A Global Dengue Day!

Fight against dengue. Sign the Open Letter.

Add your VOICE for a Global Dengue Day and sign the Open Letter to the United Nations General Assembly.

The International Society for Neglected Tropical Diseases (ISNTD) and Break Dengue (BD) have joined forces to advance a global collective, Dengue VOICE, with the clear goal of reducing the burden of dengue around the world and devising ambitious action plans and collaborations to contribute to the fight against dengue in communities and countries where dengue is a public health concern.

Dengue VOICE is made up of HCPs, NGO’s, experts, prevention champions and advocates, all of us that share the vision, the knowledge and the experience to be the strongest VOICE against dengue.

Following our inaugural launch in Lyon, France in Nov 2016 we have just convened our second global Dengue VOICE meeting in Paris with VOICE members from 27 countries coming together for an engaging, informative and motivating two days.

The event was devised to facilitate more open discussions and opportunities for you to meet fellow members, to ask questions and to workshop in teams. We had a mixture of panel discussions, workshops and expert speaker presentations, and a range of perspectives from those who battle dengue daily – from healthcare professionals to public health representatives, NGO leaders and social media consultants.

As you know, effective advocacy needs to happen at the grass-roots level, and this Global Dengue VOICE meeting is an important step towards the WHO objective of reducing dengue morbidity and mortality by 25% and 50% respectively, by 2020.

Following this year’s Dengue VOICE meeting we are strengthening ongoing activities as well as the roll-out and implementation of new regional, country level and local initiatives; all formulated at the meeting.

As an output from this year’s Dengue VOICE a letter will be presented to the United Nations General Assembly on Sept 18th 2018 – the letter is a consolidated request to create a Global Dengue Day which will serve as a rallying point to connect and focus the dengue efforts worldwide.

Given the scale and scope of dengue we are all truly in this together and we need everyone to add their voice to our effort so that we can collectively build on this momentum to meet the WHO objective of reducing the burden of dengue.

To this end we urge you to join us in our commitment to taking action by adding your name and organisation to this petition letter and joining the Dengue VOICE collective.

Thank you for being a VOICE in the choir against dengue!

Kind regards,
